Includes: Applied & Industrial Mathematics, Financial Mathematics
Computational mathematics combines core studies in mathematics, computer sciences and their applications in several other scientific disciplines, including physics, biology, medicine, actuarial science, and finance. This program differs from other mathematical programs by having a stronger focus on computation and applications. In this BSc program, you will develop mathematical and computational skills and learn how to solve practical problems in a variety of fields. This fits exactly the demands of our increasingly interdisciplinary high-tech work force. Students choose one of two areas of concentration: Applied & Industrial Mathematics or Financial Mathematics.
Applied & Industrial Mathematics involves modern and traditional applications of math to science, engineering, and medical research. Projects in your math classes may include topics such as modelling infectious diseases, studying protein structure, bioinformatics, and medical signal and image processing. Financial Mathematics is geared to the needs of the financial and banking sectors, and will prepare you for a variety of positions focusing on mathematics, computers and economics.
