Computer Science

Includes: Communications Networks, Intelligent Systems, Interactive Systems, Software Development, Robotics, Graphics and Visualization, Data Mining, Artificial Intelligence, User Interfaces

At the heart of computer science is the interaction of hardware and software. York’s BA and BSc programs provide a fundamental understanding of the theoretical principles of software and digital systems within the context of modern technology. York’s curriculum goes beyond the core areas of systems, theory, programming and hardware to applied areas of study such as robotics, graphics and visualization, multimedia and computer music, and artificial intelligence.

An optional four- to 16-month paid industrial internship is available between third and fourth years, allowing you to combine academic study with related work experience at companies such as IBM, RIM, AMD and CIBC. Through
our international summer school program and our exchange partners in Europe, we aim to educate you in more than a narrow technical field. You can also choose to complete an International degree (iBA or iBSc) with a major in Computer Science.

Careers: Hardware/Software Developer, Robotics Designer, Database Developer/Administrator, Systems Design, Network Design/Administration, Technical Support
