Includes: Recommended math teachable courses including Calculus, Linear Algebra, Statistics and Probability, Proof based courses
Mathematics for Education is designed for students considering a career in teaching. Students can apply to York’s concurrent education program or may take a one-year consecutive education program. This BA or BSc program offers a broader background in mathematics than the other Mathematics program and encourages you to develop a wide perspective on mathematics and on the teaching and learning of mathematics. Courses or a minor for a second teachable subject can be included conveniently. There is an ongoing shortage of qualified mathematics teachers in Ontario, and across North America. This program offers excellent preparation for admission to Education programs and for future success in a teaching career, while preserving the options to transfer to other mathematics programs after second year.
