York's Space Engineering program is the only one of its kind in Canada. You can prepare for a career in the space industry or at space agencies. You may choose to continue on to graduate programs ranging from pure sciences such as physics and astronomy to advanced engineering graduate programs such as aerospace and biomedical engineering. Professors and researchers at York are actively involved in a number of space- science satellite experiments, bringing their expertise and leading-edge knowledge to the classroom.

As a Space Engineering student at York, you will develop skills in the design and management of complex satellite communication systems, remote sensing technology, payloads, and hardware and data systems for space environments. As future Space Engineers, you will develop new technologies and applications for the next generation of spacecraft for space missions, space stations and deep space probes. Between third and fourth years, you have the option to do to a four- to 16-month industrial internship.

In fourth-year, all students complete a Senior Engineering Project course. Working with a team of engineering colleagues under the supervision of a professor, you will work on a self- contained engineering design project addressing a real-world issue. You will receive hands-on training in leading space technologies including an opportunity to track spacecraft with the Algonquin Radio Observatory. Our Space Engineering program is accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB).
