Born and raised in Poland, Janusz received his PhD in Energy & Environmental Engineering from AGH at the University of Science & Technology in Krakow.  After postdoctoral training at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Janusz joined McGill University in 1994, and  was appointed associate vice-principal (research & international relations) in 2005.  In 2006 he was named International Chair in Bioenergy for the Institute for Advanced Studies and Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique in France. Prior to joining York University, Janusz served as dean for the College of Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan.  His research focuses on sustainable energy systems including biofuels and bioenergy.

Molecular Mechanisms of Muscle Development
RESEARCH INTERESTS: The basic regulatory mechanisms involved in cellular differentiation and gene expression. This work is primarily undertaken using muscle cells as a model system and is aimed at understanding the role of transcriptional regulatory proteins in orchestrating muscle-specific differentiation.
