Our Mission
- Bringing a student voice to the FSE Faculty Council
- Bringing a student voice to the FSE Faculty committees
- Representing the students of the Faculty on the York University Senate
Our goal is to approach each situation with an unbiased perspective while taking the entire student body’s best interests into account.
Each year thirteen of your colleagues are elected to represent the faculty’s students on Faculty Council and committees. Faculty Council is a decision making body comprised of faculty members, the dean, staff and students. This council aims to improve the university experience. Topics discussed include academic matters, restructuring, research, and general proposals. All of the meetings are recorded; minutes are made available after each meeting.
Student Caucus members are nominated for membership on one of faculty committees. These committee meetings give the students the opportunity to provide a student perspective on important decisions. The words and advice of the student, and very often his/her vote will ultimately decide the direction of a discussion. We look forward to and are committed to improving the university experience of Faculty of Science students.
