“Our Faculty considers international partnerships as the key cornerstone supporting our strategic priorities. Partnerships like those with India stimulate the spirit of innovation with clear focus on research outcomes that have an international impact” says Janusz Kozinski, Dean of the Faculty of Science & Engineering at York University who is also part of the delegation to India. From February 23rd to March 3rd the York University Science & Engineering delegation will visit several top-tier universities and institutes across India. These visits include stops at the India Institute of Technology (Bombay and Madras), University of Calcutta, Indian Space Research Organisation, and the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research.
Members from the delegation will also visit other institutes and universities during the nation-wide trip. The key mandate for these meetings is to enable researchers from York University and across India to establish joint bilateral research and development projects. The journey will culminate with a workshop co-sponsored by the International Science and Technology Partnerships Canada (ISTP Canada), Global Innovation & Technology Alliance (GITA), Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering & Research (SAMEER) and India's Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO). This 2-day workshop will bring together over 100 participants including the York University Science & Engineering delegation, researchers and Vice-Chancellors from across India, and key dignitaries including Dr. Rajagopala. Chidambaram (Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India), Dr Vijay Kumar Saraswat (DG DRDO, Secretary Defence R&D and Scientific Adviser to Raksha Mantri (Defense Minister)). This workshop will give participants the opportunity to discuss advances and innovations in their respective areas of research, exchange information and ideas, and establish research collaborations. The workshop will be held at the DRDO Bhavan in New Dehli on March 1st and 2nd.
