 Michael Nielsen, new adjunct professor at FSE has won a grant from Open Society Institute to conduct: "Open Science Lecture Tour and Outreach". He will conduct a lecture tour to raise awareness of the benefits of open science to key stakeholders at events in North America and Europe. Raising awareness of open science is one of the program objectives the Information Program will focus our open science work on over the next two years. Michael Nielsen is a leader in the field of open science and is well-placed to raise the profile of this developing field.

Sunil Bisnath (ESSE) has been awarded NSERC Engage grant for his project "Design of a light aircraft data acquisition system" with an industrial partner: Found Aircraft Canada Inc.
Jianhong Wu (Mathematics & Statistic) has been appointed as Fields Institute Fellow in recognition of outstanding contributions to the Fields Institute and its activities. It is a lifetime appointment.
