Science Rendezvous is a FREE, annual, science festival taking place Saturday May 12, 2012 at public venues, universities and research institutes across Canada. It is designed to give people of all ages a chance to experience science and technology research through a variety of hands-on and interactive activities.

The Faculty of Science and Engineering, and our partners,  invite everyone - from kids to grandparents - to discover the fun of science on May 12, 2012.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

 

If you are a graduate student in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, dynamic and outgoing, enjoys working with the public, enjoys showing children the wonders of science and would like to help out, please email Ruth Milton at rmilton@yorku.ca to register.  Science Rendezvous is from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm in two different locations - Main Street, Markham or Yonge-Dundas Square, Toronto.  (Please specify which site you would like to volunteer at!)

We look forward to a day full of educational fun for everyone!

Harold I. Schiff Lecture
The Harold I. Schiff Lecture series was established in honour of the late Professor Emeritus Harold I. Schiff, who was York's founding dean of the Faculty of Science in 1968. Among his numerous achievements are his major contributions to the development of techniques for measuring trace constituents in the upper atmosphere and to the interpretation of the physics and chemistry of the stratosphere.

Science Rendezvous, May 12, 2012

University Professor Emeritus Ronald Pearlman of York’s Faculty of Science & Engineering has been named president of the prestigious Royal Canadian Institute (RCI) for the Advancement of Science. Brock Harpur awarded Elia Scholarship

Congratulations s to Brock Harpur for wining the ultra-competitive Elia Scholarship from York University.The Elia Scholars Program is York University’s most prestigious graduate award, and Brock will use it to carry out his Doctoral research on honey bee immunity in Dr. Amro Zayed's laboratory.   Great job Brock!
