Scientific Research Summary

Our research interests focus the physiological role of cardiac ion channels in normal and diseased myocardium. The goal of our studies is to understand the underlying molecular mechanisms of cardiovascular disease, with a particular emphasis on the changes in ion channels and arrhythmias, particula ...read morer atrial fibrillation. Ultimately, we are interested in developing therapeutic agents to treat cardiovascular disease and prevent arrhythmias like atrial fibrillation. Our studies involve models of cardiovascular disease using genetically engineering mice.  These studies are complemented by studies using single-cell and multicellular preparations of ventricular and atrial cardiomyocytes derived from human Pluripotent Stem Cells.
