Applications for Summer 2020 Textbook Support for York Science Students
The Faculty of Science helps students go remote!
York Science is helping its students succeed in remotely delivered summer courses by reimbursing some of the cost of their textbooks through the newly created York Science Summer Student Success Fund (S4F). York Science students will receive a bursary code that provides a $50 credit when purchasing a required or recommended textbook (etext or physical textbook) for their 2020 summer term course. To apply, students complete a simple application. Upon an eligibility review, they will then receive a bursary code applicable for an immediate $50 credit on their textbook (etext or physical textbook) purchase from the York University bookstore. York Science will pay the $50 on behalf of our students. We would like to thank the York University Bookstore for kindly agreeing to work with the Faculty of Science on this initiative.
Details of the S⁴Fund
The fund is intended to help offset the cost of required or recommended texts needed for a student’s Faculty of Science course delivered in the summer (SU, S1, or S2) 2020 term. The text must be purchased and shipped from the York University Bookstore.
Eligibility for the funding must fulfill all of the following criteria at once:
- You must be a current Faculty of Science degree student (undergraduate or graduate), and;
- You must be enrolled in a Faculty of Science course for the Summer (SU, S1, or S2) 2020 term(s), and;
- You must have purchased your text (etext or physical textbook) for the course in which you are enrolled for the Summer (SU, S1, or S2) 2020 term(s) from the York University Bookstore.
The total amount of the fund is $50,000. The maximum amount available to any single Faculty of Science degree student is $50. The funds are available on a first-come, first served basis until all funds are depleted. A student may only receive one award (bursary code) for the entire summer 2020 term from May 11 to Aug 31, 2020 inclusive.
You may apply for an award between May 1st to May 30th, 2020, inclusive. The last date to submit an application is at 5:00PM on May 30th, 2020. Please note that the awards are first-come, first-served so funding may be depleted before May 30th. We encourage you to apply as early as possible during the application period.
In order to access the form, please use your York email and PPY sign in credentials. Then access and complete the form here. The form will be available until 5:00 PM on May 30th, 2020.
The funds will not be sent directly to students. Once you have completed the form, a short period of review will confirm eligibility. Once your eligibility is confirmed, you will receive an email from the York University Bookstore with your one-time-use York Science bursary code. Upon purchase of your textbook (etext or physical textbook), apply the code, and you will receive an instant $50 credit on your purchase. Please note that texts purchased prior to receiving your bursary code may still receive the credit retroactively with presentation of the one-time use code and the proof of purchase receipt, if funds are still available.
