First-year biology student finds prof’s mentorship invaluable
Jacob Fine, a first-year biology student in the Faculty of Science at York University, understands how important having a mentor or crew (#MyCrewYU) is to his success in university.
A York Science Scholar Award winner, Fine has found a professor, who encourages and supports him, and has made a difference in his first-year experience at York. For Fine, University Professor Ronald Pearlman is his “crew.”
In Fine’s words:
Ever since meeting him earlier this year, Dr. Ronald Pearlman has been exceptionally generous with his commendable scientific wisdom.
Dr. Pearlman is someone who cares deeply about passing on the torch of scientific discovery to young students and future researchers. He continually serves as my source of guidance and support as I travel through university.
I highly look forward to investigating gene expression with him in his molecular biology lab this summer.
